Roofing company blamed for electrician's fall from utility pole

Hoffman

A Bucks County electrician says the careless driving of a roofing company's employee

caused him to fall from a utility pole and sustain serious injuries, according to a suit filed in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.

Petr Pshenitsyn, of Richboro, Pa., seeks damages in excess of $50,000 against Quality Roofing Supply Company and its employee, Alvin Romero, on one count of negligence for recklessly operating a company vehicle.

According to the complaint, Pshenitsyn was working on electrical wires at the top of a utility pole located on Colket Lane in Tredyffrin, Pa., in Chester County at approximately noon on July 8, 2013. The claim says that Romero backed out of the driveway directly across the street and struck the pole hard enough that it fell to the ground, taking Pshenitsyn with it.

The impact caused severe injuries to the plaintiff, according to the claim, including a concussion resulting on cognitive dysfunction, post-traumatic headaches and vertigo, disc herniation, back and knee sprains, all of which have caused Pshenitsyn to experience enduring pain and suffering, according to the suit. The plaintiff also claims his earning power has been diminished from the injury, while at the same time medical expenses for his rehabilitation have become costly.

The suit blames Romero for recklessly driving the truck at an excessive speed without maintaining control of the vehicle while being inattentive to his surroundings and the safety of Pshenitsyn. Quality Roofing Supply  is also considered liable as Romero's employer and allegedly not properly training him in regards to the use of a company truck.

Pshenitsyn is represented by Neil Hoffman of Hoffman, Michels and Sternberg in Upper Southampton, Pa.

The case ID number is 140900574.
