A Philadelphia woman has sued a food store, alleging premises liability in a 2013 accident.
Michelle Woodard filed a lawsuit April 27 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Moran Foods, doing business Save-a-Lot, and Super Valu Inc., alleging premises liability in a 2013 store accident.
According to the complaint, on June 19, 2013, Woodard slipped and fell on the premises of the Save-a-Lot store at 3801 Aramingo Ave. Philadelphia, and was injured. The suit cites the defendant for failing to properly maintain, light, inspect and repair the store’s floor.
The suit cites unsafe conditions and high medical bills. Woodard alleges severe bodily injuries to her neck, back, knee, wrist, hand, thumb and extremities, and says she requires surgery for a torn rotator cuff.
Woodard seeks compensatory damages up to $50,000, attorney fees and court costs. She is represented by attrorney Iris Pincus of Segal, Berk, Gainers & Liss of Philadelphia.
The original case was filed June 26, 2014. The defendant, represented by attorneys Daniel Krebbs and Sang Lee of Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin in Philadelphia, filed to remove the case from the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. At the request of Woodard's attorney, the case was transferred from arbitration to major trial March 31.
