Two attorneys will head new Environmental Practice Group at Phila.'s Post & Schell

Paul. r. mcintyre

Former Greenberg Traurig attorneys Stephen C. Jones and Paul R.

McIntyre have joined Philadelphia-based Post & Schell, where they will serve as principals and co-chairs of the firm’s newly established Environmental Practice Group.

The national group, which will be headquartered at Post & Schell’s Philadelphia office, will provide services including pre-acquisition environmental diligence, asset analysis and management of environmental risks and liabilities, environmental permitting and regulatory compliance, brownfield remediation and development counseling, environmental health and safety guidance, the creative use of environmental insurance, and related representations before state and federal regulatory agencies.

Jones and McIntyre have a national client base that includes private equity

funds and real estate developers, investors and managers, and energy, chemical, healthcare and manufacturing companies, according to Post & Schell.

At Greenberg Traurig, Jones and McIntyre established a multijurisdictional, national environmental practice in which they counseled clients on a variety of environmental matters.

“Steve and Paul’s arrival at Post & Schell establishes a diverse, national, and business-oriented environmental regulatory and transactional practice group at the Firm,” Brian M. Peters, Post & Schell’s president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “Their practice provides our existing and prospective clients across the U.S. with a highly specialized and in-demand set of legal services surrounding environmental law. This includes traditional investors like venture capital and private equity firms, as well as the Firm’s extensive roster of health care, energy, and construction clients.”

Jones, a 25-year veteran of the legal profession, said that he and his colleague chose Post & Schell as their new home because of the firm’s “clear strategic vision.

“They carefully manage overhead, have a strong leadership team, and they have made significant investments in intellectual capital and technology,” Jones said in a statement. “Joining the Firm allows us to establish and grow a truly focused national environmental law practice.

“Our concentration is on industries with complex regulatory schemes and significant potential liabilities that can benefit from a practical, business-oriented approach to environmental issues,” he continued. “In addition to the Firm offering an extremely efficient cost and overhead structure, we also have the flexibility to develop an offering of legal services in environmental areas that are highly valued and specific to the affected industries.”

In his own statement, McIntyre said he was attracted to Post & Schell because the firm had a “shared vision for our practice’s potential.

“The Firm’s attorneys are highly collaborative, working closely with in-house counsel, and across the Firm’s practice groups,” he stated. “This approach allows Steve and me to expand our existing practice, and to provide the same opportunity for the Firm’s other practice groups.”

Jones, according to Post & Schell, primarily represents parties in mergers, acquisitions and other transactions involving environmental issues and affecting real property and industrial operations, while McIntyre manages environmental diligence and risk management protocols for leading real estate investment funds and developers.

Post & Schell has offices in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Lancaster and Allentown in Pennsylvania, as well as in Princeton, N.J. and Washington, D.C.
