Some union workers of Mortimer Electric Inc. are suing their employer claiming a failure to timely pay dues and fringe benefits contributions.
Trustees of the Western Pennsylvania Electrical Employees Pension, Insurance Deferred Compensation and Wage and Fringe Funds filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Bedford County-based Mortimer Electric Inc., citing a violation of a certain collective bargaining agreement between the two sides.
According to the claim, Mortimer Electric Inc. on or about Dec. 11, 2013, by a judgment note, promised to pay the funds, together with interest. The unpaid balance is $88,401.18, which includes interest through Aug. 31. Including attorneys’ fees, the unpaid balance stands at $106,081.42.
The trustees of the union’s employees pension, insurance deferred compensation and wage and fringe funds are being represented by Pittsburgh-based attorneys Jeffrey J. Leech and Neil J. Gregorio of Tucker Arensberg.
