A woman is suing her former Lackawanna County-based employer, Service Boss Inc., over allegations that she was fired twice because she happened to be pregnant twice during the course of her employment.

Ashley Lucas, also of Lackawanna County, filed a lawsuit Aug. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Service Boss Inc. citing a violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act.

According to the claim, Lucas was fired twice, once in April 2014 and in June 2014, while she was pregnant. She also alleged that her employer made derogatory comments about her pregnancy, advising her to file for disability or welfare and made other discriminatory comments. In lawsuit she states she was never even given any work restrictions during the time she was employed.

Lucas is seeking, according to the claim, to be compensated or reimbursed for any and all pay and benefits she would have received had it not been for the employer’s illegal actions, but not limited to past lost earnings, future lost earnings, salary, pay increases, bonuses and medical and other benefits.

She is being represented by Ari R. Karpf of Karpf, Karpf and Cerutti of Bensalem..
