PITTSBURGH -- A Uniontown, Pennsylvania towing company sued the city recently alleging work was given to a competitor because of a family connection to the city council.
Mike’s Auto Repair & Sales, Inc. filed a lawsuit on Oct. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the city of Uniontown, Mayor Ed Fike, and Uniontown City Council members Francis Palumbo III, Philip Michael, Blair Jones and Jared Billy alleging the company was kept from performing emergency towing services within the city because the job was allegedly given to a competitor who was related to Palumbo.
Mike's Auto Repair alleges it lost substantial business within the city and was forced to expand into other municipalities to try to compensate for the loss in local emergency business.
The company is seeking damages in excess of $100,000, plus interest, attorney's fees and costs. Mike's Auto Repair is represented by Ryan H. James of James Law in White Oak, Pennsylvania.
