PHILADELPHIA —A Pakistani customer assistance representative alleges he was terminated from his position with a major airline due to his nationality.
The plaintiff, Parvez Gill, filed suit against US Airways and American Airlines, Inc., which has since merged with the company, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Oct. 23. Gill alleges US Airways violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act when the company terminated him allegedly because he was a Pakistani.
The plaintiff alleges he was terminated for violating a seven-month-old last-chance agreement when he inadvertently imbibed a small amount of alcohol. The plaintiff contends previous instances of alcohol consumption by others were not disciplined, and he alleges that this was a pretext for his unlawful termination.
Gill seeks reinstatement, back and future wages, punitive damages, attorney fees, and costs of litigation. The plaintiff is represented by Mary E. Bogan of the Bogan Law Group of Philadelphia.
