A Philadelphia woman is suing her employer, alleging that she was unfairly discriminated against because of her sex and race.
Sandra McNeil filed a complaint on Sept. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Comhar Inc., citing discrimination and racial prejudice.
McNeil, an African-American, purports that on Nov. 16, 2013, during her time of employment, she was suspended from work on grounds of alleged workplace misconduct and accused of verbal and physical abuse towards other employees. Following the completion of the case, which concluded the allegations were false, McNeil was prohibited from returning to work. Through the incident, McNeil alleges that she was treated differently than other employees in a similar position, and furthermore the plaintiff claims that this treatment was because of her race and that her employer was acting outside of the law through its racial discrimination and violation of the Pennsylvania Human Rights Act.
McNeil is seeking monetary compensation, court fees and attorney's costs. McNeil is represented by Michael A. Bowman of Bowman and Partners, LLP in Philadelphia.
