PHILADELPHIA – A Lehigh County woman is suing her former employer over claims she was fired because of her age.

Victoria Gregory filed a lawsuit against Vinart Enterprises Inc. on Nov. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, citing violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and retaliation.

Gregory, 48, who worked as client care specialist from June 2014 until Sept. 12, 2014, claims that she was repeatedly harassed by her supervisor because of her age, adding that he would ask if she was "too old" to learn new things.

That supervisor, in learning that she had an adult son, Gregory claims, said she must be "older than she appeared." And, according to the lawsuit, the supervisor referred to her as a "dinosaur."

Gregory reported her supervisor’s behavior to the human resources department, but, according to the lawsuit, nothing was done. Gregory, who claims she performed her duties in at least a satisfactory manner, was fired on Sept. 12, 2014.

Gregory is seeking compensatory and liquidated damages, attorney's fees and court costs. She is represented by Dauphin County-based attorneys Larry A. Weisberg and Derreck W. Cummings of McCarthy Weisberg Cummings, P.C.
