Man sues consumer reporting agency over claims of false information about his criminal past

Background

SCRANTON – A man is suing a consumer database reporting agency alleging that incorrect information cost him his job.

T Jason Noye filed a class action complaint on Nov. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Yale Associates Inc., alleging that the corporation provided false information about the plaintiff's past.

In February, Noye applied for the position of operations supervisor at Johnson and Johnson and was offered the job on Feb. 11 in writing, which he accepted, according to the complaint. As part of the application process, Noye's past was investigated with reports from Yale Associates after Noye mentioned that he had a criminal history, the complaint states. In March, Noye was allegedly contacted by Johnson and Johnson and was informed that he would not be offered the position due to results that were found. Although Yale documented several crimes in Noye's past, the information was allegedly incorrect, causing his past to seem much more sinister and dangerous that was realistic, the complaint states. Noye is suing Yale alleging that the misinformation cost him his job.

Noye is seeking compensation for all damages suffered. He is represented by James A. Francis, John Soumilas and David A. Searles of Francis and Mailman, PC in Philadelphia and by Marielle Macher of the Community Justice Project in Harrisburg.
