SCRANTON – A couple is suing an energy corporation for allegedly failing to pay royalties in full.

Edward M. Ostroski and Kathleen M. Ostroki filed a class-action lawsuit Dec. 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Chesapeake Energy Corp. and Chesapeake Operating LLC, alleging conversion.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs signed an agreement with Chesapeake Energy Corp. in 2007 allowing the company to drill for oil on their property with the agreement that the plaintiffs would receive a percentage of royalties from total profit. The suit claims that Chesapeake paid less than the amount of the royalties due to the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs seeks compensation of an unspecified amount in order to cover legal fees and to compensate for lost royalties. They are represented by William R. Caroselli and David A. McGowan of Caroselli, Beachler, McTiernan and Coleman LLC in Pittsburgh and by Robert C. Sanders of the Law Office of Robert C. Sanders in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
