Real estate management company seeks repayment of loan, return of company phones

Money

PHILADELPHIA – A Pennsylvania-based real estate management company is suing its former operator's daughter after it alleges that she hasn't paid back a loan that she received from the company.

Pennsylvania Residential Real Estate Management and Development Corp. filed a complaint Dec. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Paula B. Ives, alleging breach of contract and unjust enrichment.

According to the complaint, the corporation is in the business of offering loans to individuals and companies. After the death of the defendant's father in February, who was also the operator of the company, Ives was allegedly contractually obligated to pay back a loan for $100,000, which she had used to purchase her home in 2012.

Despite the demands of the company that Ives return the loan money, plus interest, the defendant has not made a payment, the complaint states. She also denied the return of three company cellphones that were in her possession, the company says.

Pennsylvania Residential Real Estate Management and Development Corp is seeking compensatory damages of more than $100,000 plus interest, the return of the phones, attorney's fees and any other damages the court sees fit. It is represented by Richard E. Miller and Neal A. Jacobs of the Jacobs Law Group PC in Philadelphia.
