PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia woman is suing a Wyndmoor assisted living facility, alleging violations of FLSA, harassment and unlawful termination. 

Audriana Owens, on behalf of herself and all others similarly situated, filed a lawsuit Sept. 8 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Carrington Places of Chestnut Hill LLC, doing business as Springfield Residences, alleging violation of FLSA and racial harassment.

According to the complaint, the defendant failed to pay the plaintiffs for overtime worked and discouraged them from reporting such shortcomings. The suit states Owens, a black woman, often was harassed in the workplace by supervisor Robin Monroe.

In September 2014, the suit says, the plaintiff followed procedure when realizing she would be late to work but when she arrived at work, Monroe informed Owens of her termination for repeated lateness. 

Owens and the other plaintiffs seek overtime pay and legal fees. Owens seeks a jury trial, compensation for at least  $150,000, damages for intentional and malicious conduct as well as attorney fees. The plaintiffs are represented by attorneys Michael Murphy, Michael C. Groh and Erica E. Kane of Murphy Law Group LLC in Philadelphia.
