Title company seeks to get out of legal liability in Glen Mills home sale

PHILADELPHIA – A Virginia title agency is suing a family in an effort to avoid any legal liability in connection with benefactors of a Glen Mills home sale who are still haggling over how to divide a check from the sale.

Sage Title Group LLC  of Chantilly, Virginia, filed a lawsuit Jan. 4 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Lillie E. Kersey, Meritt Kersey, Michael J. Kersey, Morris Kersey and Mona Lisa Kersey, alleging the Kerseys have failed to arrive at any resolutions of their dispute.

According to the complaint, Sage Title Group seeks to be discharged from all legal liability after having paid the defendants $267,499.69 – the full amount of a sales proceeds of a Glen Mills home as well as recover the amount paid into the registry of the court for the entire legal matter.
