PHILADELPHIA — A former employee of Computer Sciences Corporation is suing the company, alleging that she was fired on the basis of her age and gender.

Linda Liano filed a lawsuit on March 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Computer Sciences Corporation Inc., citing violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, Liano was hired by the defendant in May 1997 as a consultant. The plaintiff claims that the defendant permitted a culture that allowed male supervisors to make gender-based remarks about female employees without punishment. She avers that when she was promoted to the position of operations director in 2010, she was subjected to such discriminatory behavior from her supervisor.

In 2012, the defendant conducted a structural reorganization, elimination the plaintiff’s position. Liano claims that the defendant replaced her with younger and primarily male employees. She was terminated on Dec. 12, 2012, as a result of alleged discrimination against her age and gender.

Liano seeks back and front pay, compensatory damages, liquidated damages, punitive damages, costs, and attorneys’ fees. She is represented by Stephen G. Console, Rahul Munshi, and Ashley N. Waring of the Console Law Offices LLC in Philadelphia.
