PHILADELPHIA – A Philadelphia woman claims she was fired after refusing to have sexual relations with her co-worker.

Shakeith Washington filed a lawsuit March 29 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against NHS Philadelphia, doing business as NHS Parkside Recovery; Devin Jenkins; and James Larry; alleging discrimination under the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, soon after Washington was hired by NHS Parkside as a security guard, she declined Jenkins' offer to go to a hotel with him and lodged a complaint about the situation with Larry. After she filed a formal complaint with the human resources director about Jenkins' harassment, Washington claims she was harassed and eventually fired by Larry, despite having a spotless record of performance.

Washington seeks a jury trial, compensation for front and back pay, litigation costs, and other damages, plus a ban on discrimination and retaliation by the defendant. She is represented by attorney W. Charles Sipio of Kolman Ely P.C. of Penndel.
