PHILADELPHIA — A Langhorne woman is suing Barclays Bank Delaware, Experian Information Solutions Inc. and TransUnion LLC, credit information companies, citing alleged violation of Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Joanne Masterson filed a complaint on April 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they failed to accurately and timely update the status of her Barclays account based on their agreement and/or contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, on Aug. 25, 2012, she had an agreement with the representative of defendant Barclays that she would have to complete payment of $7,608.00 over 11 months to be able to close her account with Barclays. Part of the agreement was that Barclays would make a report that the account had been settled when the amount mentioned had been completely paid, the suit says, adding that the plaintiff was able to pay the amount in full Jan. 21. However, when the plaintiff requested a credit report on Feb. 1, it reflected a negative report and showed that the plaintiff still had a balance of $20,159.00 and a past due balance of $4,225.00, the suit alleges. The plaintiff holds Barclays Bank Delaware, Experian Information Solutions Inc. and TransUnion LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to correct and update the credit report despite a request from the plaintiff. Defendants Experian and TransUnion failed to notify Barclays about the plaintiff's dispute, the suit says; because of this, Barclays allegedly was not able to conduct a proper investigation to be able to correct the plaintiff's credit information.

The plaintiff seeks $45,000 for actual damages, punitive damages, costs and reasonable attorney's fees, and such other and further relief as may be just and proper. She is represented by Antranig N. Garibian of Garibian Law Offices P.C. in Philadelphia.
