PITTSBURGH — A woman is suing OSA Global LLC, a former employer, citing alleged disability discrimination and wrongful termination.

Sheila Larkin filed a complaint on April 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against OSA Global LLC, alleging that the former employer violated Americans with Disabilities Act regulations.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was fired on March 31, 2015, after she told the defendant that she had to be committed to Mercy West Hospital for working during an extended panic attack. The plaintiff holds OSA Global LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to engage in the interactive process of accommodation and terminated her upon having to accommodate her disability, stating that, “We’re going to have to let you go because we can’t have somebody with your condition on our payroll due to the sensitivity of our work.”.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for loss of back wages in excess of $8,000, loss of back wages at reduced rate of $211.50 per week in excess of $2,000, loss of back wages at reduced rated of $400 per week in excess of $3,000, loss of future wages in excess of $15,000, punitive damages in excess of $75,000, legal fees in excess of $25,000, pre-judgment and continuing interest, court costs and other such relief as the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Christi Wallace of Kraemer, Manes and Associates LLC in Pittsburgh.
