PITTSBURGH — The federal government is suing an Erie resident, citing alleged unpaid debt.

The United States of America filed a complaint on May 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Toni Harmon, alleging that the Erie resident failed to pay a debt amounting to $14,774.82.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant had a principal balance of $13,095.08, which later accrued interest amounting to $1,769.14. The plaintiff holds Toni Harmon responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the sum due despite the demand made by the plaintiff.

The plaintiff seeks the amount of $14,774.82 plus prejudgment interest through the date of judgment; all administrative costs, service of process costs allowed by law and post-judgment interest; attorneys' fees; and any other such relief the court deems just and proper. The plaintiff is represented by John F. Kroto of the U.S. Attorney's Office, Western District of Pennsylvania in Erie, Pennsylvania.
