PHILADELPHIA — A former employee is suing Arris Group Inc., a telcom equipment company, citing alleged age discrimination and racial discrimination.
Yash Singh filed a complaint on May 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Arris Group Inc., alleging that the telcom equipment company unlawfully terminated him despite his outstanding performance.
According to the complaint, the Indian-American plaintiff said that he received good reviews on his performance and even secured a promotion as a senior program manager. When a new senior manager came in August 2014, the plaintiff started receiving negative treatment from her, he says, adding that his suggestions were disregarded during meetings and he was given a poor evaluation despite exemplary performance. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because the company allegedly treated other employees well, the younger and Caucasian ones in particular. The defendant also allegedly ignored the plaintiff's claims of evaluation inaccuracy and discrimination even if the plaintiff backed his claims with positive reviews from a valued customer. The plaintiff was allegedly put into a performance improvement plan and then was terminated after he came back from leave.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks back wages, front pay and bonuses not less than $150,000; liquidated damages; and plaintiff's costs, disbursements and attorney's fees;. He is represented by Michael Patrick Murphy Jr. of Murphy Law Group LLC in Philadelphia.
