PITTSBURGH — The federal government is suing Paul A. Elis Jr., claiming the Pennsylvania man has defaulted in payment of a loan.

The United States of America filed a complaint on May 3 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Elis, alleging that the borrower allegedly failed to comply with the terms of a loan agreement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it has suffered damages by not collecting a loan in the amount $149,348.12, excluding interest. The plaintiff holds Elis responsible because the defendant allegedly wrongfully refused and failed to repay his indebtedness.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in the principal amount of $149,348.12, and $141,411.93 interest accrued through April 5, 2016, plus interest until paid in full, costs of suit and for such other relief as the court deems just and proper. It is represented by David J. Hickton and David Lew of the U.S. Department of Justice in Pittsburgh.
