PHILADELPHIA — A design construction consultant is suing Peco Energy, an energy services company, citing alleged racial discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Richard Reinhardt, an African-American man, filed a complaint on May 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Peco Energy alleging that the energy services company allegedly violated the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was treated disparately, was subjected to disciplinary actions by his white supervisor, was unfairly and unjustly suspended three times without pay in the period between September 2013 and February 2014, was suspended without pay for alleged improper use of his laptop and was terminated from employment on May 14, 2014. As a direct and proximate result, he suffered loss of earnings, loss of earning capacity, loss of benefits, pain and suffering, upset, emotional anguish and loss of life's pleasures, he claims. The plaintiff holds Peco Energy responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated against him on the basis of his race and/or in retaliation for his objecting to and opposing race discrimination.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks reinstatement to an appropriate position, compensation for all damages, costs of this action, plus reasonable attorney's fees and such further relief as the court deems appropriate, He is represented by Mark S.
