PHILADELPHIA — A nutrition assistant is suing North Inc., a health organization, citing alleged discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Angela Patterson filed a complaint on May 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania alleging that against North Inc. violated the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in May 2015, she began experiencing symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, cervical radiculopathy and arthritis that required her to see multiple doctors/specialists on a regular basis. She says she attempted to exercise her FMLA rights but was prevented from obtaining those benefits. As a result of discrimination, she suffered adverse employment actions causing her harm, the suit says. The plaintiff holds North Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly interfered with her rights to FMLA leave and retaliated and terminated her for requesting FMLA leave.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, attorney's fees and costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and an award of extraordinary, equitable and/or injunctive relief as permitted by law. She is represented by David M. Koller of Koller Law LLC in Philadelphia.
