PENNSYLVANIA — A woman is suing Life Insurance Company of North America, claiming she was improperly denied long-term disability benefits.
Cynthia Batz filed a complaint on July 1 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Life Insurance Company of North America, alleging that the insurer violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2010, she became disabled and was approved to receive disability benefits but was suddenly terminated in 2012. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated her disability benefits based on an incorrect claim that she was no longer disabled.
The plaintiff seeks disability benefits, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Joseph Capitan of Martin Law in Philadelphia.
