Mortgage company blamed for hurting credit rating

PITTSBURGH — A couple's lawsuit against Nationstar Mortgage, a Delaware corporation, citing alleged violation of the Fair Debt Collections Act.

Christian Silveira and Joanna Ruth Silveira filed a complaint on July 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Nationstar Mortgage, alleging that the Delaware corporation failed to timely respond to the plaintiffs' request to satisfy a mortgage obligation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that between 2010 and 2016, they suffered damages to their credit rating. The plaintiffs holds Nationstar Mortgage responsible because the defendant allegedly improperly reported that the plaintiffs were in arrears when in fact they had paid in full.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek declaratory judgment, actual damages, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by David A. Colecchia of David A. Colecchia and Associates Law Care in Greensburg.
