Man says company misrepresented his background info

PHILADELPHIA — A consumer is suing Accurate Background Inc., a consumer reporting agency, citing alleged negligent misrepresentation.

Ryan Andrew Emrich filed a complaint on July 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Accurate Background Inc., alleging that the consumer reporting agency reported derogatory and inaccurate statements regarding the plaintiff to third parties.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages to his reputation and lost possible employment opportunities. The plaintiff holds Accurate Background Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly reported inaccurate information regarding the plaintiff's criminal history to third parties.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages, punitive damages and court costs. He is represented by Mark Mailman and Gregory Gorski of Francis & Mailman, P.C. in Philadelphia.
