HARRISBURG — An individual is suing Toyota Motor Corporation, a car manufacturer, citing alleged product liability.

Claire Yuhas filed a complaint on Aug. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Toyota Motor Corporation, alleging that the car manufacturer made vehicles that are not crashworthy.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 16, 2015, she sustained serious injuries when she suddenly lost control of her vehicle, causing it to strike an embankment and an anchor wire of a utility pole. The plaintiff holds Toyota Motor Corporation responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly inspect each of its vehicles before sale to make sure that each unit would be able to protect its passengers during a crash.

The plaintiff seeks actual damages, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by William C. Steppacher Jr. of Steppacher Law Offices LLC in Scranton and E. Todd Tracy, Stewart D. Matthews and Andrew G. Counts of The Tracy Firm in Dallas.
