Insurer accused of improperly denying benefits

Insurance 04

PHILADELPHIA — An employee is suing The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company, alleging breach of contract and improper denial of long-term disability benefits.

Margaret G. Blatman filed a complaint on Aug. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company, alleging that the insurance firm prematurely terminated her disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in September 2013, she became disabled and was initially being paid for disability benefits until the benefits were terminated in May 2014. The plaintiff holds The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated her disability benefits despite her continuing disability and adequate medical proof to support her claim.

The plaintiff seeks monthly disability benefits due since May 19, 2014 plus interest, reinstatement, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Edmunds J. Brokans and Marguerite M. Nocchi.
