PHILADELPHIA — A consumer is suing Universal Credit Services LLC and Equifax Information Services LLC, consumer credit reporting agencies, citing alleged negligent misrepresentation.

Michael Sturgeon filed a complaint on Aug. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they reported inaccurate information regarding his credit history to third parties.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that since June, he has suffered damages in the form of lost credit opportunity and damages to his credit history. The plaintiff holds Universal Credit Services LLC and Equifax Information Services LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to make a proper investigation regarding his information before reporting to third parties.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Mark Mailman and Erin A. Novak of Francis & Mailman, P.C. in Philadelphia.
