Woman claims Unum Life Insurance Company of America owes her disability benefits

Insurance 02

PHILADELPHIA — A woman is suing an insurer over an allegedly improper denial of long-term disability benefits.

Martha Holland is suing Unum Life Insurance Company of America, citing alleged breach of contract. Holland filed a complaint on Sept. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the insurance firm was wrong in denying her claim for disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in January 2015, she became disabled and applied for long-term disability benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds Unum Life Insurance Company of America responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld its decision to deny her application for disability benefits despite having sufficient evidence to support her claim.

The plaintiff seeks full and complete payment of disability benefits, court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Marc H. Snyder of Rosen, Moss, Snyder & Bleefeld, LLP in Jenkintown.
