Woman sues federal government over alleged sidewalk fall

Slip02

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- A woman is suing the federal government alleging negligence, liability and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Terry L. Coupell filed a complaint on Oct. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against the United States of America, alleging the government body failed to properly maintain a sidewalk.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 14, 2014 she sustained serious physical injuries when she tripped due to a large crack in a sidewalk at a post office. The plaintiff holds the government responsible because the defendant allegedly allowed the hazardous condition of the sidewalk while failing to provide adequate warning to pedestrians including plaintiff.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $75,000.

She is represented by Vern S. Lazaroff of The Law Office of Vern S. Lazaroff in Port Jervis, New York.
