PHILADELPHIA — A consumer is suing TransUnion LLC, a credit reporting agency, citing alleged negligent misrepresentation.

Peter Yerger filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against TransUnion LLC, alleging that the credit reporting agency failed to delete the plaintiff's debt after receiving a dispute letter.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that since April 2015, he has suffered damages in the form of lost employment opportunities. The plaintiff holds TransUnion LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to perform a proper re-investigation regarding plaintiff's debt.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages not less than $100 and not more than $1,000, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Robert P. Cocco of Robert P. Cocco, P.C. in Philadelphia.
