Law money 03

PHILADELPHIA — A man employee is suing The Hartford and SPS Technologies LLC, plan administrators, alleging breach of contract and violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

Joseph J. Applegate filed a complaint on Oct. 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they improperly denied his claim for disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2011, he became disabled and was initially being paid disability benefits that were later terminated. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly terminated his benefits despite the existence of sufficient documentation to support his claim.

The plaintiff seeks an order that he is entitled to long-term disability benefits, monetary payment, court costs and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by James P. McNally of Stampone Law, P.C. in Cheltenham.
