PITTSBURGH – A Pittsburgh couple allege the wife was injured by a treadmill in a sporting goods store.

Arlene Berg and Jeffrey Berg filed a complaint on Oct. 27 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. and Fitness Equipment Services LLC, doing business as Sole Fitness, alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that in March 2016, Arlene Berg sustained physical injuries from being thrown onto the belt of a treadmill she was using at the Homestead Dick's Sporting Goods store. She alleges the treadmill increased its speed without warning.

The plaintiffs hold Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. and Fitness Equipment Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate warning to the consumers regarding the hazardous condition of their treadmill.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds the jurisdictional limits of this court. They are represented by David Ainsman of Ainsman Levine LLC in Pittsburgh.
