State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company accused of breaching contract

Insurance 11

PITTSBURGH — A woman is suing State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, citing alleged breach of contract.

Lois A. Wholey filed a complaint on Oct. 27 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, alleging that the insurer improperly failed to pay her enough for injuries.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she suffered damages from not being paid for injuries caused by an underinsured motorist. The plaintiff holds State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company responsible because the defendant allegedly paid only $10,000 in underinsured-motorist coverage to the plaintiff, without paying the whole eligible coverage of $200,000.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in the amount of $190,000 plus interest and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Kenneth J. Nolan of Edgar Snyder & Associates, LLC in Pittsburgh.
