PHILADELPHIA — A married couple's lawsuit against Dollar Tree Stores Inc.; Awesome Products Inc. d/b/a LA's Totally Awesome; and John Does 1 to 4 alleges negligence, liability and loss of consortium in connection with a slip-and-fall incident.

Richard Freedman and Cymantia Tomlinson filed a complaint on Dec. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that Dollar Tree failed to keep the floor of its premises free of any foreign substance that could cause an accident and that the other defendants are liable because they are engaged in the manufacturing, assembly, packaging, design, sale, distribution and shipping of household cleaning products.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Dec. 31, 2014, Freedman suffered serious physical injuries when he slipped and fell on the floor of Dollar Tree due to an accumulation of soap or laundry detergent on the floor. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for the alleged hazardous condition that caused Freedman to fall and suffer back injuries.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants in an amount that exceeds $75,000 plus court costs and interest. They are represented by Edith A. Pearce and William J. RIngland of The Pearce Law Firm, P.C. in Philadelphia.
