HARRISBURG — A mother and her child are suing Mifflin County; child welfare caseworkers Casey O'Dell and Kristen Matula and supervisor David L. Smith; and doctors Pat J. Brune and Evan Wallace Crowe, alleging that the mother was unjustly accused of abusing the child.

K.S. and minor child J.H. filed a complaint on Jan. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they failed to properly diagnose B.H.'s condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that K.S. and J.H. suffered damages in connection with a delay in a diagnosis of von Willebrand disease that caused the child to bruise easily. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to conduct proper testing of B.H.'s condition and falsely accusing K.S. of abusing B.H. due to bruises found on B.H.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendants. They are represented by Mark D. Freeman of Mark D. Freeman, Esq. in Media.
