Unicare Life and Health Insurance Company and Lord & Taylor accused of wrongly denying benefits

Insurance 02

PHILADELPHIA — A man is suing Unicare Life and Health Insurance Company and Lord & Taylor, citing alleged breach of contract.

Laurence Mathis filed a complaint on Jan. 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging that they wrongfully terminated his long-term disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he sustained financial damages from having his disability benefits terminated. The plaintiff holds Unicare Life and Health Insurance Company and Lord & Taylor responsible because they wrongly determined that he was no longer disabled and did not meet the requirements of the policy.

The plaintiff seeks disability benefits in the amount of $665 per month, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by James P. McNally of Stampone Law, P.C. in Cheltenham.
