PHILADELPHIA — A California company that produces online adult media is suing an unnamed Verizon internet subscriber, citing alleged copyright infringement.

Malibu Media LLC filed a complaint on Feb. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against a John Doe internet subscriber identified through the user's IP address, alleging that the individual distributed unauthorized copies of plaintiff's copyrighted movies.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it sustained damages from having its copyrighted movies distributed without its consent. The plaintiff holds the Verizon subscriber responsible because the defendant allegedly used the BitTorrent file-sharing software to distribute to other users unauthorized copies of plaintiff's movies.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks for the defendant to delete and remove digital media files relating to the plaintiff's works, as well as statutory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. The plaintiff is represented by A. Jordan Rushie of Rushie Law PLLC in Philadelphia.
