PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia woman is suing an insurance company and a freight company, citing alleged breach of contract.
Joan Junod, individually and as administrator of the estate of Francis Junod, filed a complaint on March 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of
Mutual Of Omaha Insurance Co. and Burris Logistics Inc., alleging that they failed to pay the life insurance death benefits left by her husband, Francis Junod.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she sustained damages from being denied the life insurance left by her late husband, who was a truck driver for a Burris Logistics subsidiary. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly refused to pay the plaintiff the life benefits.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants, compensatory damages, punitive damages, statutory fines, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Jeffrey S. Craig of Craig, Annin & Baxter LLP in Haddonfield, New Jersey.
