Law money 09

PITTSBURGH - An employee is suing Pittsburgh Opera Inc., citing alleged unpaid debt and violation of workers compensation acts for failure to pay overtime wages.

Antonia West, employed by the opera as a creative professional working in wardrobe, filed a complaint March 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania alleging the defendant failed to provide sufficient compensation to the plaintiff for her work.

According to the complaint, West alleges she sustained damages from not being paid overtime compensation for part of her employment with the opera. She holds the Pittsburgh Opera responsible because it allegedly failed to pay overtime wages to her at the legal rate for working more than 40 hours a week.

The plaintiff seeks $16,748.50 in unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages of $16,748.50, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Ernest B. Orsatti of Rothman Gordon PC in Pittsburgh.
