PITTSBURGH — An iron workers' union is suing R & B Contracting & Excavating Inc., citing alleged breach of contract for neglecting to make payments to the group's employee funds.

William C. Ligetti and Greg Christy, on behalf of the trustees of the Iron Workers of Western Pennsylvania, and the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers, Local Union No. 3, filed a complaint on April 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania alleging that the contractor failed to remit its required contributions to the labor union.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that the organizations sustained damages due to delinquent contributions. The plaintiffs hold R & B responsible because it allegedly failed to pay its contributions to the plaintiff.

The plaintiffs seek to require the plaintiff to file a complete and accurate remittance report and present for audit, as well as money judgment in the amount of $470,739.34 plus liquidated damages, attorneys fees of 20 percent of the total amount due, a cash deposit of $20,000, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Jeffrey J. Leech and Neil J. Gregorio of Tucker Arensberg P.C. in Pittsburgh.
