PITTSBURGH — A New Castle company has filed a class-action lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler Automobile M.V. and FCAUS LLC, vehicle manufacturers, citing alleged design defect, liability, negligence and product liability.

Castle Car Company filed a complaint on behalf of all similarly situated on May 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they installed defective devices on their vehicles to misrepresent vehicle emissions on several models they sold.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it was damaged from purchasing a defective vehicle. The plaintiff holds the manufacturers responsible because they allegedly misled consumers into purchasing their vehicles that they advertised as fuel efficient when in fact they did not meet legal emissions standards.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks restitution, interest, compensatory, punitive and other damages, statutory damages, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by D. Aaron Rihn of Robert Peirce & Associates P.C. in Pittsburgh.
