PITTSBURGH — Three companies specializing in funeral services are suing their former employee James Muirhead, alleging breach of contract.

Matthews International Corporation, The York Group Inc. and Milso Industries Corporation filed a complaint on May 30 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Muirhead alleging that their former consultant solicited their customers after his employment with them ended.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they sustained damages to their business from Muirhead's actions. The plaintiffs hold Muirhead responsible because he allegedly competed against the plaintiffs by wrongfully soliciting the plaintiff's customers in breach of his employment agreement.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek injunction against the defendant, compensatory damages, interest, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Jaime S. Tuite and Tiffany A. Jenca of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC in Pittsburgh.
