UN4 Productions says nine local Comcast subscribers shared movie on BitTorrent

Copyright 13

PHILADELPHIA — A Nevada film distributor is suing nine unknown individuals, alleging copyright infringement for sharing a movie released in April.

UN4 Productions Inc. filed a complaint on June 2 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they made illegal copies of plaintiff's motion picture Boyka: Undisputed IV.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it sustained damages to its business from having its motion picture copied without authorization. The plaintiff holds the nine defendants responsible because they allegedly downloaded and shared copies of plaintiff's motion picture by using BitTorrent software; the defendants were identified only by their IP addresses as Comcast subscribers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks injunction against the defendants, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. They are represented by Charles Thomas and Lee M. Herman of Creative Rights Law Group PLLC in Media.
