ERIE — Two plaintiffs are suing the U.S. federal government, alleging that it was responsible for negligence on the part of one of its funded community health centers.

Kendra Arista and her mother Rachel Boris filed a complaint on April 3 in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against the federal government alleging that it, through Hilltop Community Healthcare Center in Pittsburgh, failed to provide proper medical care to Kendra Arista.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Kendra Arista was severely injured from having her pituitary dysfunction misdiagnosed. The plaintiffs hold the federal government responsible because it allegedly failed to properly diagnose Kendra Arista's condition and provide the appropriate treatment.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in an amount that exceeds $150,000, plus interest and court costs. They are represented by Thomas R. Kline, Dominic C. Guerrini and Mark S. Polin of Kline & Specter in Philadelphia.
