PHILADELPHIA — A Chester County man is suing Hayt, Hayt and Landau LLC, a debt collector, alleging misrepresentation in debt collection.

Vincent Jerome filed a complaint on June 5 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the collection agency, based in New Jersey, alleging that it sent a collection letter to the plaintiff that contained misleading information regarding the debt he allegedly owed.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was damaged from receiving the letter. The plaintiff holds Hayt, Hayt and Landau responsible because the defendant allegedly sent him communication regarding a debt to Capital One that was discharged by a judgment of the court in August 2016.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual, statutory and liquidated damages, court costs, interest and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by Richard N. Lipow of Lipow Law Office in Malvern.
