Professor sues Drexel University over teaching contract

Contract 03

PHILADELPHIA — A professor is suing Drexel University, alleging a breach of contract and what he characterized as an excessive teaching load.

Irvin Peckham filed a complaint on June 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Drexel University, alleging that the university made false promises to induce him into moving to Pennsylvania from Louisiana.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was hurt financially from being induced into accepting a teaching position. The plaintiff holds Drexel University responsible because the defendant allegedly made false representations to the plaintiff in order for him to agree to work as a teaching professor.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to enforce the contract between the plaintiff and the defendant. He also asks for compensatory damages, expectation damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. He is represented by James A. Bell IV and Jennifer C. Bell of Bell & Bell LLP in Philadelphia.
