Government alleges couple failed to report foreign bank account, seeks more $600,000

SCRANTON – A Camp Hill couple are alleged to have failed to report a financial interest for Swiss bank account.

United States of America filed a complaint on June 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Jizhou Pedersen and Stephen Pedersen seeking penalties. 

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants willfully failed to report their interests in a foreign bank account for the 2007 calendar year. The plaintiff holds Jizhou Pedersen and Stephen Pedersen responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to disclose the account to the Internal Revenue Service on their joint federal income tax return.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against Jizhou Pedersen in the amount of $366,476.91, judgment against the defendant Stephen Pedersen in the amount of $368,333.50, interest, court costs and any further relief the court grants. It is represented by Stephen S. Ho of U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
