Couple accuse Chester County Hospital, others of negligence regarding wife's care

PHILADELPHIA – A Coatesville couple alleges that wife suffered permanent injuries because of a delay in medical treatment.

Dawn L. McClure and Gregory A. McClure filed a complaint on July 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Eric L. Parvis, M.D., care of Chester County Hospital Emergency Department; The Chester County Hospital, et al. alleging medical professional negligence and violation of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act.

According to the complaint, Dawn L. McClure was turned away from her primary care office because she was 15 minutes late for her appointment on Sept. 8, 2015, and was instructed to go to CVS Urgent Care. The suit states that from the Urgent Care, she was transferred by ambulance to Chester County Hospital and was not triaged for almost four hours. She alleges that because of the long delay, she suffered severe and permanent neurological injuries, including a loss of vision, because of an intracranial hemorrhage.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant in an amount of more than $50,000 plus interest and court costs. They are represented by Leon Aussprung and James E. Hockenberry.
